Disney Cruise for Kids

Going on a cruise but can’t decide yet what cruise line to take? I know you’ve been gathering info about different cruise lines so you can choose only the best cruise. Disney cruise is one of your choices but you have many questions in mind. You’ve been hearing a lot lately about it, positive and negative.

Well, I can help you decide. I have few info that will satisfy your queries. You must be a parent who wants to give the best vacation for his kids. Are you worried about the safety and security of the kids while on board? Worry not because the crew and staff maintained the ship in its very good condition to keep the cruisers happy.

Disney has adult areas and kid areas. If you check your kids into a kids program, you can be alone with your spouse. The Oceaneers Club (ages 4-7) and Oceaneers Lab (ages 8-12) for the children are fantastic. There are also tons of activities that the 3 of you can do together.

Disney cruise will also let kids meet the Disney characters and get signatures from them. Some kids prefer to meet characters than involving to kiddy programs.

There are a lot of activities for couples too. If you’ve been thinking that Disney is for kids only, well you are wrong. You can have a perfect time with your partner by having a formal dinner at Palo restaurant and having a great time swimming at their adult pool. The adult pool has a wide space and yet only few people spend time there.

Disney has a very good track record regarding safety, but I don’t know if their ships have been completely safe from norovirus outbreaks; I suspect they have not.

If you are questioning about the cleanliness of the ship,, crew members dispensed hand sanitizer to every guest as they entered each restaurant, as well as to the kids at every Ocean Club/Lab visit. Good sanitation is still your best defense.

Disney Cruise Staterooms

One of the things that a Disney cruiser must take time to consider is the booking. Some passengers are quite particular with details.

Well, we cannot blame them for every one of us wants only the best vacation. Most of us tend to carefully review the space in which we’ll spend a good part of our cruise vacation, and as much as possible we want to get all the information of each space or room in the ship.

We want to know the prices, the amenities, the technology and the convenience we will experience on the room that we choose.

It might be hard to get the room that is perfect for the whole family, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth trying. The two largest (no pun intended) variables are budget and room-size.

Some staterooms even have veranda for greater view, but (as expected) this is a luxury that will come with a price. While I have never personally experienced this luxury, I have learned from other cruisers that a veranda is not very functional to them while on Disney Cruises, in particular, because they are attending too many activities.

Especially aboard Disney’s Cruise ships, there is not too much time to spend in the room because you’ll find lots of entertainment outside your stateroom. Thus, you’ll probably be happier if you skip the veranda and spend extra money on other amenities.

Some cruiser would choose smaller rooms because as been said, room size is not so important during the cruise – plus you can save a lot this way. Some families even bring their own mats and extra bedding they can use during the nights.

Here are some tips to remember when getting a Disney cruise stateroom:

1.       Disney Cruise Line sometimes runs its own specials, such as a small stateroom credit or only having to pay half of the usual deposit amount. If you are a good vacation planner, you can find these specials on your own with a little online research.

2.       Get a travel agent who offers a stateroom credit. Aside from knowing about special deals, many travel agents selling Disney cruises will give you a stateroom credit based on the total price of your cruise. When you sail, they will place a credit on your account which you can enjoy on board.

3.    Know the “secret” rooms that give you more for your money. The Disney Magic and Wonder cruise ships both have six staterooms that are sold as inside rooms but that actually have an obstructed view porthole. These rooms are 5020, 5022, 5024, 5520, 5522, and 5524. If you choose one, you will be paying a category 10 price but receiving a room that is almost the equivalent of the more expensive category 9.

There are also some staterooms – 7120, 7620, 6134 and 6634 – that are priced as “navigators verandas” but actually have more open veranda. With these you’ll pay for a category 7 room but you get a category 6 style veranda. (Other Disney ships likely have similar secrets that you might expose with a little research.)

These rooms are in high demand, so try to book earlier if you want one of these rooms.

Meet the New Disney Ship

Have you heard about the new Disney cruise ship? Yes the news is true and the ship made its initial voyage January 26, 2011 in port Canaveral, Florida. If you have experienced cruising the old ships of Disney, this ship will excite you as it is truly a new extravaganza. With the ship coming out with a fresh design and image, you can’t help but be intrigued.

Meet the “Disney Dream”! The first new Disney Ship in a decade, the Dream takes its cruisers to a new level of entertainment.

The most innovative new attraction of the ship is… the “Aquaduck.” It is the “water coaster” that only Disney could have conceived of. Water slides are not unusual on cruise ships, but this one offers a few new twists. This ride utilizes the same Master Blaster technology employed at Disney theme parks to catapult riders forward and upward as they shoot through a series of turns, twists, and drops while riding an inflatable raft through the Aquaduck’s clear  tube.

This ride measures 765 feet long, and winds around a significant portion of the top deck. It rises four stories off the top deck, and the excitement is intense enough that Disney has instituted height limit for riders. Of course, like most attractions on Disney’s ships, this one is included with the cost of sailing.

While perhaps not as innovative, not to be overlooked are the interesting themed restaurants aboard the Dream. The three “rotational dining” eateries offer a themed dining experience.

The Enchanted Garden is based on the gardens of Versailles and offers “continental market cuisine.” The Royal Palace serves princess treatment along with French cuisine. And the Animator’s Palate is a carryover from the Magic and Wonder vessels, dishing up Pacific Rim fare.

Finding the Best Cruise for Your Caribbean Vacation

Between the expectations involving careers and various other obligations, the majority of us find it increasingly difficult to make time for travel. When the opportunity for a trip finally arrives, holidaymakers will most likely want to experience a getaway that guarantees all the fun you’re seeking from a vacation within a single package. Cruising seems like the ultimate answer, but before you make your reservations, you must inform yourself about the various elements that can determine which cruise is best for you.

Choosing the Best Cruise for You

Successful organizing is essential to guaranteeing a quality cruise experience. Cruises need advanced booking and many people arrange their cruises several months in advance. Start preparing now for your next cruise-style trip. Another very important concern involves the many kinds of cruise liners to choose from. Different vessels appeal to various styles of excursions. For example, parents traveling with younger children might consider reserving an outing through Disney’s fleet of family-friendly liners. Important things to consider when choosing a Caribbean cruise include rates, vessel features, itinerary and destinations.

When and Where To Go

Timing and destination are significant things to consider when arranging a Caribbean cruise getaway. The most popular period of time for cruising takes place through the winter months, predominantly during the Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmastime holidays. The popularity of cruising between the months of November through April causes the prices of those cruises to be more costly compared to the rest of the year. Many travelers are skeptical of cruising during hurricane season because the Caribbean seems like a perfect target for storm activity, but this shouldn’t discourage vacationers as hurricanes are effectively monitored and don’t often affect cruise excursions.

Another necessary element to consider is your desired destination. Whether you’d like to check out only a single or many places, the vast array of available cruises will make it possible for you to select the best itinerary to suit your ideal holiday. The length of your cruise will largely affect the number of locations you will travel to in the course of your vacation.

Classes and Cabins

Choosing the best cruise might initially seem like a complicated endeavor, however preparing yourself with all the information about the different cruise options available for booking will make the whole process incredibly easier. There are multiple classes of cruise styles: contemporary/value cruises, premium cruises, luxury cruises and specialty cruises. The vast majority of cruises fall into the contemporary class, which indicates that they are designed to cater to more budget-minded holidaymakers. Premium cruises offer a better ratio of staff members to cruise travelers, and strive to guarantee that vacationers are fulfilled in every way. Luxury cruises are a step above premium options, and produce the best quality of service and facilities. Alternatively, consider specialty cruises that operate dependent upon unique themes or targeted groups, such as singles, senior citizens and gay travelers.

Cabins can be reserved through two methods, “perfect” or “run of the ship.” Vacationers who select the “run of the ship” possibilities will not have their exact cabin assignments until the week before the cruise leaves, but are able to designate whether they would favor an interior or outdoor cabin. At a more expensive cost, vacationers may choose the “perfect” type, which gives you a confirmed cabin upon booking. While selecting a cabin, you may want to keep clear of spaces that can experience significantly more noise activity, such as engine rooms, night club areas, movie theaters, swimming pools, fitness centers, stairways, etc. Those that have a tendency to suffer from motion sickness should preferably seek a cabin on a lower deck towards the center of the vessel.

Packing Ideas

As the anticipation sets in, you will have to load up your baggage in preparation for your approaching vacation cruise. Cabin capacities aren’t known for being spacious, so pack mindfully. Travelers will need to dress effectively for the island conditions, so it is advisable to bring items like lightweight daywear, swimsuits, sunglasses, cover-ups, comfy sandals as well as hats. A large number of cruises feature various dinner evenings, so prepare by packing collared shirts and sundresses for casual meals, suits and cocktail dresses for informal meals plus black tie apparel for formal occasions.

After you have scheduled your cruise, reserved your trip and packed your luggage, all you need to do is board the ship that will sail you towards an amazing Caribbean vacation. Just sit back and wind down on the sun-drenched deck of your ship, sipping a delicious drink and basking in the Caribbean air while you travel through the welcoming sea.
